Hearing Aid Troubleshooting
If you are a new hearing aid wearer, it can take some time to adjust to your devices and to understand how to properly connect and take care of them. Below are some common troubleshooting tips to help you get the most out of your hearing aids.
How to Change a Hearing Aid Battery
Changing hearing aid batteries is simple.
- Open the battery door
- Remove the old battery and properly dispose of it
- Remove the tab off the new battery and wait for five seconds
- Line up the battery’s “+” sign (flat side of the battery) with the “+” on the battery door, then insert the new battery
- Close the battery door
- Turn on your hearing aids
How to Connect Hearing Aids to Bluetooth
With Bluetooth hearing aids you can seamlessly connect to your smartphone to stream phone calls, music, and other audio.
- Open your device’s Settings app (make sure Bluetooth is ON).
- Turn your hearing aids off and then on to activate pairing mode.
- Click on Pair New Device.
- Choose your hearing aid from the list of available devices.
- A dialog box will pop up for each hearing aid (RIGHT and LEFT). Select Pair FOR EACH dialog box.
- Pairing should be complete
How to Change a Hearing Aid Dome
Changing the domes on your hearing aids is a regular part of maintenance and can help the sound quality and overall performance of your devices.
- Hold the hearing aid tube/receiver in one hand and gently pull the dome away with the other
- Position the new dome so the center lines up with the receiver
- Carefully yet firmly position the new dome in place on the receiver
- Make sure it is secure
